These are a couple of the photos taken yesterday, 4/4/2012, at the presentation of the winners of the 22nd Grand National Grouse and Woodcock Invitational Championship.
Ch. Terhaars Elvis won it, dog on the left with owner Dave Terhaar.
This win ranks with this winning of the 2011 Grand National. Elvis is nine years old. Most, if not all of the dogs at the Invitational were champions or RU (runner up champions)
Elvis was nearly killed during a hunt. He evidently came up on a cub bear and the mother attacked him. Dave said he could hear the dog yipping and when the dog came running to him blood was coming out of his face, his jaw was broken and it required nearly a 100 stitches to close all the bites and claw wounds.
Dave said less than a month later he was competiting with him with his jaw wired shut. One tough dog.
This week Elvis is in an amateur classic here in Michigan. This may be Elvis last season of competing. I guess he has earned his retirement.
